Today kicked off Top Gun Invitational 2007 and I so wish I could be there! Since I can not, I will just keep re-watching WildBerry Production’s Top Gun Invitational DVD. I ordered the DVD about a week ago, and it arrived a few days ago along with the Electric Flight School DVD I ordered. One word sums up the Top Gun DVD – AMAZING! In fact I have watched the Top Gun DVD so many times I lost count and I have not even had a chance to view the Electric Flight School DVD. My youngest son has made me put the DVD on each night while he falls asleep. He loves it too.

To show you how good the DVD is, last night while I was at the MMAC club meeting my wife put on the DVD for my youngest and she watched the whole DVD even though he fell asleep. My wife is the greatest and she supports all my hobbies, but getting her to sit through an hour of anything with my hobbies is not first on her list. This morning she let me know how amazing she thought Top Gun is and how good a job WildBerry Production did on the DVD.

So this is not just The Hobby Guy telling you how good this is, you have the seal of approval of The Hobby Guy’s Wife!

Now maybe next year I can remind her how amazing Top Gun is and how we need to see it in person.

For the past few weeks it has been unseasonable warm in the North East, getting as warm as 80 degrees Fahrenheit on some days. Today is the day before the American Thanksgiving Holiday and the weather has changed. It is very Grey outside and the temperature is in the 40’s. I love this type of weather! This is perfect weather for indoor hobbies, especially Model Railroading.

The only better weather for Model Railroading, for me anyway, is when it is snowing. I guess it brings up all the great memories of my childhood of working with my Dad on our train layout. It was always nice and warm in our basement where the layout was (probably because we were next to the oil furnace).
My sons and I are building the same great memories and one of our holiday traditions is to attend the Train Show presented by the Model Railroad Club of Union, New Jersey. As I have said before, the TMRCI puts on the Best Model Railroading show in the world, and we never miss a year.
The show this year has expanded hours and the will run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from November 24 to December 10.

Another model railroding must do during the holidays is to attend the local Great Train Expo. Great Train Expo hosts shows across the United States and their expos are always fun filled with vendors and local club layouts.

Nearby, in Edison, NJ they will be having a show November 24-26, and I will be there with the kids. From the show schedule, it looks like they have shows going on from coast to coast this upcoming weekend. Kids under 12 are free, so its a great place for the whole family to spend time.

During the holidays there are many model railroad shows, expos, and club demonstrations throughout the country (and the world), I would love to hear about what is going on in your area. Leave some comments with the events in your local area and lets see if we can build a large database of these shows so everyone can find one.
